If I could accomplish this in real life as easily as I could on the computer, I'd be set!
I've had paint on my mind lately. Well, I've also had spring cleaning on my mind too...but my imagination is reaching around in my memory for what it was like to actually make something LOOK PRETTY instead of just making it STURDY. We will celebrate two years in the house this summer, and we have had lots of sturdy, not so much pretty.
Anyway. The daydreaming has caused me to obsess about online design tools...there are quite a few of them!
But there are other topics covered too!
HGTV offers project tutorials.
IKEA lets you design a kitchen.
Lowes has a project planning page which gives you access to a whole library of interactive design tools, including closet design, floor design, paint color programs, lawn and garden problem solvers, kitchen planners, deck designers, project calculators, How-To guides, Product Guides and a Build It Virtually online tool. (Whew!) Home Depot has a Design Tools page which includes a Lighting and Fan design center, plant guide, and garage door design guide.
The most unusual home-related online tool? This application by Sitestepper, which will "scrape" your website and decorate a house with it! (via Living Home and J-Walk) This is the "HouseBlogs House"...
Now. If only getting the job in real life was as quick and easy as getting it done in online...Sigh.
